DANIEL THORNBURN

Shihan has decided to introduce an annual award to recognise the student who has performed and contributed the most to our karate association.

The 2025 Student of the Year award proudly goes to Daniel Thornburn.

Dan joined the club at a very young age and has grown through the ranks with remarkable consistency—progressing through Dan grade and teaching grades, and later this year taking on the challenge of his technical grade exam.

But what truly sets Dan apart is not only his ability; it’s his character.

He is a conscientious young man who is always at the forefront of the dojo—ready to help, teach, cover classes, and quietly do the behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything running.

Whether it’s supporting others on the mat, stepping in when needed, or cleaning, fixing, and giving his time without hesitation,
Dan’s contribution has been exceptional.

Dan, this award is thoroughly deserved.
