Introducing the Annual Student of the Year Award

We are excited to announce a new tradition at our dojo! Shihan has decided to introduce an annual award to recognise the outstanding student who has not only performed exceptionally but also contributed immensely to our karate association. And for the year 2025, we are proud to award this honour to none other than Daniel Thornburn.

Daniel's Journey in Karate

Daniel, or Dan as we affectionately call him, has been a part of our karate family since he was very young. Watching him grow through the ranks has been a remarkable experience. From his early days as a beginner to now, he has shown consistent progress, moving through Dan grade and teaching grades with unwavering dedication. Later this year, he will take on the challenge of his technical grade exam, a testament to his commitment and hard work.

Character Above All

What truly sets Dan apart from his peers is not just his skill as a martial artist but his incredible character. He embodies the spirit of what we strive to achieve in our dojo. Dan is a conscientious young man who is always found at the forefront, ready to help, teach, and cover classes when needed. His willingness to lend a hand behind the scenes—cleaning, fixing, and giving his time to ensure the dojo runs smoothly—speaks volumes about his dedication.

Whether it's supporting fellow practitioners on the mat or stepping in to cover a class, Dan's contributions are exceptional. His efforts reflect a loyalty and service to our dojo that is truly inspiring. Watching him grow has been a joy, and it’s clear that he is a deserving recipient of this award.
